In contrast to a simulator or educational game, a history based puzzle game is a tool for learning and self-education. The puzzles are used to make the player think in a historical context. In this game, the player can research both ancient history and archaeology. The game also comes with a tutorial.
The game covers the period from 5000 BC to 1st century AD, and in Egypt. It deals with the findings made by early scholars and archaeologists, such as Manetho and Ptahhotep.
Overview
The aim of the game is to re-create a history that has become distorted and lost over the centuries. The game consists of two games modes. The first one: Tutankhamun’s Tomb gives the player four interactive scenarios to perform in an order from the Pharaoh Tutankhamun’s tomb. The second one is Egyptology where the player is allowed to choose from ten different games and perform the same tasks as in Tutankhamun’s Tomb.
Jewel Master: Cradle of Egypt 2 Return to Egypt is a series of games and apps designed for children, youths, and adults that explores archaeological discoveries and artifacts. The games are historical puzzles and the player is challenged to complete each puzzle in an order according to historical discoveries and artifacts in the game. A selection of the gems and treasures from these discoveries and artifacts is needed to open each puzzle.
Critical reception
It has been downloaded about 40,000 times and listed as "starred" in the Apple Store, which means that it received four-and-a-half out of five possible stars.
The game has been praised for being one of the most educational games in the App Store.
